2014 Social Justice Project Award Winner: Safe Zone
Description: Safe Zone, a project of the the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Student Involvement and Leadership Center, promotes a safer and more civil KU community for all individuals. The program’s primary focus is on KU’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer community members.
Quote from Nomination: "I feel that the Safe Zone program is an especially strong candidate for a sustainability award because it address a set of critical social equity issues that often receive limited attention in our society at large and on campuses nationwide and that all too often are not part of sustainability dialogue."
